Habitat homes are not "given" to families. Each Habitat family is required to complete 400 hours of sweat equity in partnership with volunteers, in the construction of their home. When the home is completed, the Habitat family is required to repay a no interest/no profit mortgage. Learn more at www.habitat.org. As a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, we are required to tithe, or give 10%, of all the donations we receive...unless the donor specifies otherwise. HFHBBC has designated our funds go where "most needed". This has typically been used to build in 3rd world countries, where the average cost of a home is between $2,000.00 and $2,500.00. That means that your donations have not only helped complete 3 homes in Box Butte County, but have also resulted in the construction of homes for 4 to 5 families in the poorest regions on earth. WAY
TO GO,
second home Habitat for Humanity International asks each local affiliate to aim for an average of at least one home completed per year!! If you could donate a couple hours or even knowledge, we can meet this goal easily. A NOTE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS! We
want to thank the literally 100's of individuals who have stepped up to make
affordable, decent housing a reality for low income families in our community. Thanks, also, to the churches, businesses
and civic clubs who have pitched in to make homes happen. We are blessed to witness such love and
generosity of time, money and prayers!
God bless you all!!! |
